Sponsored Walk/Easter Egg Hunt

The school held it’s annual Sponsored Walk/Easter Egg Hunt on the day we got our Easter Holidays. Our walk took us up Ballion Hill where we got to see the fantastic views from the top of the hill. When we returned to the school we had our Easter Egg Hunt. Eventually the children found all the Easter Eggs. A great morning was had by all and it was a great way to finish before the Easter Break.

Dear Parents

Open Mic Night

Well done to all the children who took part in the Open Mic Night in St. Eoghan’s Hall On March 15th. The children performed really well and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

Digital School of Distinction

As part of our attempt to become a Digital School of Distinction we are introducing coding in the school. The Junior Room are using Daisy the Dinosaur while the Senior Room are using Hopscotch. If children have access to these Apps at home it would help improve their coding. Coding will become part of the Maths Curriculum in the near future so the earlier the children get a grasp of it the better.

Pedestrian Lights

Our new pedestrian lights are now switched on. Please make sure your children use them when crossing the road. I would ask all parents not to park near the lights as this obstructs the view. Please use the parking areas provided.

Go Green on Friday 16th March.

For St. Patrick’s Day the children all came to school on March 16th dressed in green.

Tin Whistle

Children are asked to bring their tin whistles with them to school every day.

Sponsored Walk/Easter Eggs Hunt

Our Annual Sponsored Walk/Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Friday 23rd March. This year the Sponsored Walk will take place on Ballion Hill. It will be a testing workout but the views at the top are fantastic. Anyone who wishes to is welcome to join us on our walk. After the walk the children will have their Easter Eggs Hunt around the school. Pascal might be a bit kinder where he hides the Easter Eggs this year. There are still some Easter Eggs from last year that have not been found.

Art/ Story-telling Competition

All local schools are participating in this. The children are asked to write poems/stories and take part in an art competition based on rubbish that is found on roads.

Swimming

The children’s 8 week swimming programme concludes before Easter. Once again the children have made great progress. Being a small group the attention that they get is fantastic.

Confirmation

Well done to the children who made their confirmation earlier this year. They looked great and carried out their roles excellently.

First Confession

First Confession will took place on Wednesday March 7th in St. Eoghan’s Church at 7pm.

Trip to the Watergate

The children from the Junior Room went on a trip to the Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny on Wednesday 21st February. They saw the play “Barney Carey gets his Wings” and had a great time.

Easter Holidays

School will close for the Easter Holidays on Friday March 23rd at 12. It will reopen on Monday April 9th.

As part of our Active Schools the children have been busy taking part in the 10 at 10.

Christmas Concert

Our Christmas Concert took place on December 12th in the local hall. A great night was had by all as the children in both classrooms performed brilliantly. The night began with the junior room playing the tin whistle. This was followed by their performance of the play ‘The Sleepy Shepherd’. After this the senior room gave their own tin whistle performance. This was followed by ‘Kilmoganny’s Got Talent’ and they finished with some beautiful Christmas songs. Well done to everyone involved on what was again a fantastic night. Special word of thanks to Ms. Behan and Ms. Carroll for the great work they did preparing the children. Thanks also to the Parents Association who organized a raffle on the night and €780 was raised.

Fun in the Snow

Recently the children awoke to a blanket of snow. Rumour has it some of them were hoping school would be closed. Home was never like this.

Science Week

The school was a hive of activity during Science Week with loads of interesting experiments taking place. Well done the children on their fantastic work. We could have a young Aristotle in our midst.
